Edward Cody, Jr. Obituary

God blessed the earth with the presence of Mr. Edward Cody, Jr. on July 23, 1960, in Wadley, Jefferson County, Georgia. He was born to the late Mr. Edward Cody Sr. and Mrs. Annie Mae Cody Mason.

Edward attended elementary school in Wadley, Jefferson County, Georgia and finished his education at Johnson County High School in Wrightsville, Georgia.

After graduating high school, Edward began his career at Buckeye Industries in Wrightsville, Georgia, working in the pressing department. He was later promoted to the mechanic department where he learned  to work on machines. He became the head mechanic. After years of work, the plant closed and Edward was asked to relocate to Nicaragua to work for a " sister" company. He migrated to Nicaragua and began working for ROCEDES INC. as head mechanic, where he trained others in the art of mechanics.

Edward received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age, while in high school. He was a member of China Temple Church of the Living God in Wrightsville, Georgia, where he worked as Chairman Deacon for many years. Edward had a great "God-given" talent of working with young people inside and outside of the Church. He directed the China Temple Youth Choir and taught many young people to use their voices for Christ. He took the time to teach the young men and women how to live a productive and holy life. Not only did he teach, but he led by example! Edward also wrote songs of praise to the Lord and did not mind singing to the glory of God.

On May 30, 2019 after a brief illness, Edward received the call from God to come home. He answered the call at the Monte Espana hospital in Nicaragua as he transitioned from this life to be with The Lord.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Ruth Polanco, his mother, Annie Cody Mason, his three children Edwina (Eumicus) Roberson, Milledgeville, Georgia; Edward Cody Jr., Nicaragua; Stephanie (Zane) Cody-Ponder; six sisters,  Betty (Robert) Perez of Louisville, Georgia, Catherine (Varick) Braswell of Wrightsville, Georgia, Linda (John) Harmon of Statesboro, Georgia, Edna Cody of Hephzibah, Georgia; Jacqueline (Tim) Hicks and Linda Ann Johnson of Wadley, Georgia; three brothers,  Willie James Gibbons of Wrightsville, Georgia; Kelvin (Regina) Cody of Millen, Georgia and Charles Williams of Boston, Massachusetts, six grandchildren,  Marchello Graddy Jr,  McKenzie Cody,  Mikayli Roberson,  Margret Cody,  Morgan Roberson and Monica Cody and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
