Lorene Sims (Sims) Gardner

Mrs. Lorene Sims Gardner entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.

She was a member of Old Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Bartow, Georgia from an early age. Mrs. Gardner was dedicated in her service as a Missionary, member of the Pastor's Aide ministry and as a member of the kitchen staff.

Lorene was a 1966 graduate of the former Louisville High School, Louisville, Georgia and furthered her education at Swainsboro Technical College to become a Certified Nurses Assistant. She was employed with the former Oxford, Wadley Shirt Company in Wadley, Georgia for over 35 years, prior to retiring in 2008.

Mrs. Gardner's warm, loving and caring demeanor will be especially missed by her daughter, Sylvia Sims (James) Thompson; stepdaughter, Dorothy (Robert) Williams, Hampton, Georgia; three sisters, Annie F. Sims Vaughner and Betty Jean Sims (James) Jefferson, Jr. both of Brooklyn, New York and Christine Sims (Arthur) Small, Wadley, Georgia; three brothers, James (Fannie) Sims, Jr.. Sunrise Florida, Jimmie Sims, Evans, Georgia and David Sims, Louisville, Georgia; her aunt, Esther Bostic, Brooklyn, New York; four sisters-in-law, four brother-in-law, two grandchildren, JeQuann Thompson, Wadley, Georgia and Raymond Shanks, Hampton, Georgia; godmother, Mamie Kate Gilmore, Wadley, godson, Anthony Turner, Wadley, Georgia and goddaughter, Tonya Maye and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
