Rosena Lattimore Obituary

Ms. Rosena “Tina” Walden Lattimore, daughter of Mr. John Walden and Mrs. Mattie McKennie Walden, was born in Wadley, Georgia on July 10, 1942.

Rosena was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Wadley, Georgia. At First Missionary Baptist Church, she served as Choir Director, Musician, and Vacation Bible School Director. In addition to these duties, she also served as a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Missionary Ministry. She was a regular attendee of Sunday School and Bible Study.

 Ms. Rosena Walden Lattimore was actively involved in her community sharing the gift of music and song God placed within her. She shared her gifts with First Missionary Baptist Church, San Clair Missionary Baptist Church, Brinson Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Spears Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Pierce Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Salters Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Woodlawn Missionary Baptist Church, St. Mark A.M.E, St. Matthews A.M.E Church, Spring Bethel A.M.E Church, Trinity C.M.E, and St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church. Rosena was also a faithful member of the “Voices of Praise” Community Choir and the “Wings of Jordan.” She could also be seen participating and assisting with the Wadley-Bartow Senior Citizens and the Wadley-Bartow Reunion.

Rosena was educated in the public school system of Jefferson County, Georgia. After successfully graduating from Jefferson County High School in 1962, Rosena attended Jacksonville Community College in Jacksonville, Florida where she obtained an Associates of Science Degree in Secretarial Science.

Ms. Rosena Walden Lattimore was a dedicated worker at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley, Georgia; H&R Block in Louisville, Georgia; and the Jefferson County Board of Education in Louisville, Georgia. She was also a care provider and piano teacher to many children and adults in the Wadley community. Mrs. Lattimore was a dedicated associate of Hudson Mortuary of Wadley, where her music ministry soothed the hearts of many who mourned.

Rosena was preceded in death by her daughter, Ms. Bridgette Renee´ Walden; parents, Mr. John Walden, Mrs. Mattie McKennie Walden, and Ms. Betty Walden; and siblings, Mr. John Walden, Jr. and Mrs. Veronica Walden Gamble.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, surrounded by family, Rosena answered her Master’s call at her residence in Augusta, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving son, Mr. John H. Walden and a devoted daughter, Mrs. Cassandra (Terry) Heggs of Augusta, Georgia; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Francine (Freddie) Gore of Jacksonville, Florida and Ms. Phyllis Lattimore of Wadley, Georgia; two stepsons, Mr. Charles (Vatie) Lattimore and Mr. Earnest (Arlene) Lattimore, Jr. of Wadley, Georgia; three devoted and loving grandchildren, Mr. Xavier Tyrell Walden of Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Maurice Dantrell Flournoy of Wadley, Georgia, and Mr. Jalen N. J. Heggs of Lithia Springs, Georgia; three special grandchildren, Mr. Frankie Nesby, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Axavier Harris of Savannah, Georgia, and Ms. Traneshia Kitchens of Sandersville, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Ms. Xavia Brinee´Walden and Ms. Kimyla-Marie Walden of Augusta, Georgia, and Mr. Maurice Dantrell Flournoy, Jr. of Sandersville, Georgia; two nephews, Mr. Anthony (Rasheika) Gamble of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Mr. Alonzo (LaTanya Spikes) Gamble of Aberdeen, Maryland; four goddaughters, Mrs. LaShanda (Percy) Jones-Tinsley of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Ms. Tronya Howard, Mrs. Tamakia (Eddie) Howard-Ford, and Ms. Alia Mountain all of Wadley, Georgia; a godsister, Ms. Aleshia Michelle Lewis of Louisville, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
